…to Ada Ciganlija.
The main sign is the closing of the summer swimming season at Ada Ciganlija. The final (official) day of government sanctioned swimming was actually on Friday but people still made use of the weekend sunshine to go for a quick dip.
From now on, however, swimmers face a potential fine – a draconian sounding measure that is designed to protect the safety of bathers in the absence of lifeguards who operate only during the summer season.
That doesn’t mean Ada Ciganlija is suddenly no longer worth visiting – cycling, roller-blading and all kinds of other sports and activities will still draw crowds, especially in sunny weather. Furthermore, on fresh winter days, when the sun peeks out from behind dour clouds and when swans pass through on their migration south, Ada can be a magical place for an afternoon stroll.
