Drvo Javorovo is one of those places that makes living in Belgrade that little bit easier. It looks just like a normal Belgrade bar but, to it’s regulars, it’s something more akin to a home away from home. As one of the bar’s many colourful characters once proclaimed, “there’s no shame in spending all day in Drvo!”
And, indeed, you can. Head down there for a really good coffee, in the early afternoon perhaps, then gently ease yourself towards a tasty Belgian beer as the evening rolls in and the place fills out. If that’s how you start a night out – there’s no telling how it’ll finish up! (There is of course – and we all know it – you’ll be ordering rounds of rakija in no time!)
The thing that makes Drvo such a popular haunt for many – especially among Belgrade’s expat community – is how friendly it is. This is primarily down to the atmosphere created by those who work there. It just wouldn’t be the same without them.
The sorts of things they organise include table football tournaments, live music (playing mostly jazz and rock)… And as though that wasn’t enough, they’re planning to start serving food (then you really won’t ever have to leave)!
