One of the things associated with Belgrade is its nightlife.
Indeed, if you know the right places, you can party seven days
a week in any season here. What is especially dear to all
visitors is that most clubs close real late (or early in the morning,
depends on how you see it) and that, with exceptions of nights
of live gigs and special parties, they don’t charge an entrance fee.
This allows you to cruise around and choose a place that suits
your mood on a particular evening. Another, even more distinctive
feature of Belgrade nightlife are its clubs on the rivers, called
splavovi, a picturesque mix of anchored barges and boats, which
are the main places to spend a night June through mid September.
Many of the larger clubs operate two venues, one in the city
during most of the year and one on the river during summer,
so do beware where you’re headed!
Most of nightlife takes place in smaller cafés which
are scattered all around the city or in a traditional kafana.
These are the usual places to kick off the evening with a
couple of drinks. After that it is time to go someplace that
attracts night birds, preferably with a dancefloor. The most
popular cluster of cafés and bars is in Upper Dorćol,
with Strahinjića Bana Street being the prime spot.
