Futsal Euro 2016 coming to Belgrade

A Serbian player prepares for UEFA Futsal Euro 2016

If you haven’t had enough of Serbia’s sporting successes – such as becoming water polo champions of Europe – there’s another international tournament coming to Belgrade: UEFA’s Futsal Euro 2016!

The tournament will feature the 12 top teams in Europe (Azerbaijan, Croatia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Italy, Kazakhstan, Portugal, Russia, Slovenia, Spain, Ukraine and Serbia). The teams will play a total of twenty games to establish the UEFA Futsal Euro 2016 champions.

Serbia is in Group A, facing off against Slovenia and Portugal. This generation of Serbian Futsal players have a good record, having reached the quarter-finals twice in recent years. With home support in the KOMBANK Arena, they hope they can do better at this year’s championships.

Spain is traditionally the team to beat, having won six out of nine finals competitions since EURO Futsal began. Italy are the current champions, however, and Russia is also a contender.

The opening game is on Tuesday the 2nd of February, at 6.30pm. Tickets are 350-600 dinars and are available from all Eventim box offices. All of the tournament’s games will be played at the KOMBANK Arena:
