Fair & Square Hostel Belgrade is located just outside the city centre, in a pleasant residential area. Like many other Belgrade hostels, it is clean and comfortable with modern, well-furnished rooms.
What really sets it apart and why it is currently our favourite hostel, is the laid back atmosphere and helpful friendly service. In short, the staff made us feel right at home! Something that is harder to find than you’d think and, for weary travellers, is like striking gold.
Another wonderful feature of the hostel is the large, chilled-out garden area where everybody congregates in the evenings, especially when the weather is nice, and where you can meet fellow travellers from all over the Balkans and the wider world. In the evenings, the garden also becomes an impromptu cinema with films played for guests too tired to head to the city.
Because it’s located on a large site with three buildings, Fair & Square is nice and quiet – taking you away from the hustle and bustle of the city just streets away. And because it has a great bar area, there is a good chance you will feel like coming back here for a few beers after sightseeing… That is, if you even feel like leaving in the first place.
In terms of facilities, Fair & Square has it all. Dorm rooms are great if you’re travelling with friends or if you’re out to meet other backpackers but the private rooms are perfect for couples. If you book in advance, the hostel offers transport from the train station at a very reasonable 350 dinars or 1,000 dinars from the airport (well below the prices you’ll be charged for a cab). The staff are also more than happy to help you organise your time in Belgrade and to help you continue your journey.
We were really impressed with Fair & Square and are happy to recommend to visitors to Belgrade, whether you’re staying for a couple of days or for longer.
