The Rationale of Irrationality

I don't think that I've yet shared with you the reason for my up and moving to Belgrade. Let's just say it wasn't a rational decision...AT.ALL.

People ask me all the time, mainly those from Belgrade, why in the world I would move to Belgrade from Chicago, when "everyone" is trying to get outta here. I have to admit, I wondered the same thing when I first started playing around with the idea.

In fact, my argument to God (replace that word with whatever you're comfortable with...Universe/Source/Spirit) was, "...but THIS is the land of opportunity."

And the response that I felt deep within my heart was...

The best opportunities for you are where I send you...

For those of you who may not be into spiritual things, this might sound all woo woo, but even you, very logical and analytical types, can't tell me that you've never made a decision based on an instinct or gut feeling.

And my proposition is that the best decisions are made from there...from within us, from our Spirits, no matter how irrational they may seem.

I had NO CLUE what I would be doing here, how it would all turn out, what even the purpose of my coming was. But I can tell you that looking back, almost 3 years later, I can definitely see that this was the best decision for me. For sure.

But I didn't know that at the time. I had no guarantee that things would "work out" for me. All I had was this divine inspiration moving forward and guiding me, step by itty bitty step.

In fact, what I've come to believe is that the best decisions in our lives, the ones that lead us along our purpose, require us to take a big freaking leap off a giant cliff. Without knowing for sure that there is a bridge right below us that will catch us and lead us along our way.

But when it's a deep desire from within, you CAN trust that the next step will always be provided for you just as you need it.

Always.

Without a doubt.

It's a beautiful thing.

Scary, yes, but beautiful.

We can't see all the steps clearly, we don't see the entire road in front of us. All we're given is a general vision of where we're headed, but not a detailed map of how we'll get there. Instead, we are required to focus on this moment and the inspiration/desire that arises. Act on that and then the next step will come clearly into focus.

Your mind can try to rationalize things and figure things out, to come up with the best logical solution. I'm sorry to break it to you, folks, but you're not that smart....haha. You can't see the whole picture so decisions made this way will be low-level decisions and very likely not in line with your highest good and potential.

Thank goodness there is a better way and perhaps I'll get into it in greater detail some other time. But for now, don't be scared of the irrational. If there's an inspiration within you to do something that seems completely irrational, know that it might just be the most rational decision for you.

Two things: First, may I ask how many times you had been here before you decided to move to Belgrade? And second, it seems that many decisions regarding this city and those who have been there at least once, defy logic and reason as most do decide to go with their hearts and what lies within them. :-)

Well before I moved here at the end of 2009, I was here in 2005 for 2 weeks and before that I was here in 1995, and then I think 1985 before that. Haha...so every 10 years, more or less. Yes, of course, I realize that there are many others who have done the same thing. But I think, in general, people have a hard time with uncertainty.

Do you think people will give me stranger looks if I tell them that I moved here because I\'m interested in the Balkans or if I say the move was divinely inspired?

I\'m guessing if you say it was \"divinely inspired\" you\'ll get stranger looks. But if that\'s the truth, then it doesn\'t really matter, does it? Or you tailor your response depending on the person you\'re speaking with...all true responses just packaged differently. You can feel what the other person is prepared to hear.
