The 2016 European Water Polo Championships are coming to Belgrade! Games start on Sunday 10th January with Spain vs. Slovakia (at a punishingly early 9.30am).
More interesting for Belgrader’s will be when world champions Serbia face off against bitter local rivals, Croatia, at 8.30pm – also on Sunday. Last time the Serbia team took on Croatia the result was rather one-sided, can the dolphins do it again?
The championships will be on from the 10th of January until the 23rd and tickets are still available for almost all the games through www.eventim.rs.
The opening ceremony is at 8.05pm on Sunday night and, for those of you who still want to be part of the action, tickets are still available (see above link to Eventim).
Parallel to the men’s competition – where the Serbian national team will be confident they can pass the group stage – there is also a women’s competition. Check the schedule of games by clicking here.
The games will take place at the KOMBANK Arena (see map below), where a pool has been installed for the first time. The arena can accommodate over 20,000 sports fans, ensuring that there will be plenty of tickets for most games. Indeed, there are still tickets available for the Serbian national team games so book now if you want to be part of this sporting spectacle.
The KOMBANK Arena is easy to locate and plenty of parking space is available.
