Sport Activities in Belgrade
Belgraders are great sport buffs. Sometime they might be keener
on supporting the Serbian team in one of many medal winning sports
in front of TV but when the match is over they will be out to show
where these talents came from. With its rivers and parks,
as well as with long warm summers, Belgrade is almost an ideal
place to be active and there is a wide (and growing!) array of facilities where to do so.
Swimming in Belgrade
The most popular place for free of charge
outdoor swimming
would be
Ada Ciganlija and its lake, which is quite nice
though certain parts of it could get overcrowded if you come
between mid June and the 1st of September. For those who don’t
mind
swimming in a river that flows through several metropolitan
areas there are two popular beaches on the Danube: one is Lido
facing Zemun, the other Bela stena on the way to Pancevo.
By far the best solution are many sports centers, featuring
both closed and open-air pools, and which can be found in
almost every neighborhood.
Sports centre Tasmajdan is very
central and has been fully renovated a few years ago.
A monthly pass here costs 5,000 dinars in summer and 7,500 dinars
in winter season. For day tickets you will have to pay 250
(summer) and 300 dinars (winter). Others centraly located sport
centres are
Milan Gale Muskatirovic on the Danube below
Kalemegdan Park and «Pinki» in Zemun Park.
Cycling in Belgrade
Cycling in the centre of the city or leaving it on a major
road can be a challenging experience. Since Belgrade south
of the rivers lies on many hills, you will need a good bicycle
and a lot of stamina.
On the other hand the parts of the
city across Sava and Danube are almost completely flat.
On top of that, the whole of New Belgrade has bicycle lanes
on its broad sidewalks, which makes it easy and safe to navigate.
Nevertheless, the most popular places for cycling remain on
the banks of rivers Sava and Danube. There is a cycling route
eading from Donji Dorcol to Ada Ciganlija, and another one
from Zemun to Staro Sajmiste. Once you’ve reached Ada Ciganlija
you can take a 9km long route around the lake as well.
Many
people cycle along the banks of Sava in New Belgrade from Blok
70a to Blok 45, while more daring ones continue off-road further
along the embankment to the Ostruznica Bridge.
If you don’t own
a bicycle of your own you can rent one in places such as "Markoni"
that has one of its outlets in the "Gale Muskatirovic"
sports centre on the Dorcol quay and the other on Ada Ciganlija,
or "Pirana" on the bicycle track behind the Fairgrounds.
Jogging in Belgrade
Of course, one can jog almost anywhere, but most people prefer
to do it along the rivers or in larger parks such as the Hajd Park or Topcider.
By far the most popular one is
Kosutnjak where you will also find a decent trim-lane.
Zumba in Belgrade
If you love to dance, want to be fit and require workouts to be fun then
Zumba is the perfect choice!
This exciting and efficient method of exercise is also very straightforward and easy to follow. It seems to
have been created entirely by accident as a Colombian fitness instructor forgot to bring music to an aerobics
class and decided to play Latino music from his private collection. Moved by the Latino rhythms the class had
great fun and a new, revolutionary
Zumba fitness program was born!
Dynamic dance and great fun actually tones and shapes your body while simultaneously burning a lot of calories
in the process.
Zumba fitness blends red hot international music and since 2001, when it was created, has become
the most popular global dance-fitness program with more than 12 million followers.
You can find
Zumba fitness classes in a number of locations in Belgrade. Our suggestions are:

Plesni klub Calypso, Osogovska 25, (Banovo brdo)

Spas in Belgrade

relaxing body treatments and tubs, while many have their own fitness centre,
beauty parlor or even a small swimming pool.

Health & Spa
Section you can find our recommendations.
Skiing in Belgrade
If you are staying in Belgrade during the winter you shouldn't give up on sports.
Get your ski gear ready and head to Belgrade's lone ski piste in Kosutnjak.
The piste is about 100m long and has a modest ski-lift but is good fun.
Tennis & Squash in Belgrade
Popularity of tennis in Belgrade has boomed with the great successes
of Serbian tennis players in the last years. From improvised
tennis courts in backyards to Novak Djokovic’s tennis courts
next to the "Gale Muskatirovic" sports centre there are more and
more places to around the city to play tennis.
Though still not a
cheap pastime, there are now many moderately priced places as well.
For those who prefer squash the place to go is "Squashland" located
in Pionirski grad in the middle of Kosutnjak park.
Golf in Belgrade
Belgrade’s only
golf course with nine holes is to be found on Ada Ciganlija.
The course has also a practicing ground and two simulators (available only for club members).
Horse Riding in Belgrade
There are several horse riding clubs based at the Belgrade Hippodrome.
You can learn to ride there or, if you already know how to, you can join one of them.
Bowling in Belgrade
Presently, the two best (and most frequented) places for bowling in Belgrade
are located in the two new shopping malls in New Belgrade,
Usce and Delta City, both tenpin bowling.
Other facilities with
more popular prices are the bowling lanes in "Coloseum" in Zemun
(an excellent tenpin with dedicated hosts), sports’ centre Rakovica, "Jezero" in Ada CIganlija (ninepin).
Bocce/petanque is played out in the open, mostly as a way of recreation
of elderly population; do feel free to join in, especially if you’ve got your own balls.
Paintball in Belgrade
The best venues to get armed with paintball guns are "Arena" or "Pobednik"
in Ada Ciganlija or the abandoned garage in New Belgrade’s Blok 44.
The places can be rented by the hour and include a hundred balls.
Other Sport Activities in Belgrade
For other fun activities the best place to visit is Ada Ciganlija.
Apart from the sports already mentioned you will also find there a 15m
tall artificial rock for free climbing, adventure park and a track for water skiing.
In winter time a number of sport venues turn their fields into ice skating rings.
